The Guinea Pipeline
In the summer of 2021, Blossom Together sent its first volunteer to Mali - funding projects across three countries and breaking new ground in Guinea for the first time.
Year:
2021
Project Destination (s):
Mali, Guinea, Burkina Faso
Trip Destination (s):
Mali
Trip Duration:
~10 days
Key Projects:
ESL education

Overview:
2021 was a year of firsts. Guinea entered the picture for the first time - an 11-month water system construction project in Ley Hollo, Labé, built in partnership with local and European humanitarian organizations. A project that started long before our volunteer touched down and extended well after. In Mali, our partnership with Gaoussana Fofana and Clinic Planet Vision continued, funding ~50 cataract surgeries. Across the border in Burkina Faso, ONG Education helped us reach families with 150+ food packages. One volunteer, three countries, and some of our most complex project work to date.

Impact:
One volunteer, three countries: a multi-faceted water system in Labé, Guinea, ~50 cataract surgeries in Mali, and 150+ food packages in Burkina Faso — and some of the most ambitious project work Blossom Together had taken on to date.

Highlights:
The work was the priority - but there was still time to take in Mali between projects. A solo trip, a heavy workload, and a level of project complexity that set a new bar for what Blossom Together could take on. Shout out to Sathvik Bodepudi who made the journey!
