2020 was the year everything stopped - and the year we learned we couldn't. With travel off the table, Blossom Together adapted. Between March and June, we offered virtual ESL services to middle and high school students at the College of Horizon Education in Burkina Faso, running sessions over Zoom. In July, we shifted focus to the ground. A fundraising effort raised ~$30,000 to prepare and distribute food packages across northern Burkina Faso - cattle meat, a luxury in rural communities, reaching families at a moment when it was needed most.
Impact:
No travel, no team on the ground - just $30,000 raised, ~300 food packages distributed across northern Burkina Faso, and virtual classrooms kept open for students at the College of Horizon Education throughout the pandemic.
