Deep in Burkina
In the summer of 2019, Blossom Together sent 2 volunteers to Burkina Faso for nearly six weeks - teaching English to 90+ students at the College of Horizon International and distributing 100+ food packages across the region.

Overview:
Burkina Faso was our second trip - and our longest by far. Two volunteers spent 40 days on the ground, teaching English to middle, high school, and elementary students at the College of Horizon International. Two hundred pages of teaching materials prepared in advance, basic French learned on the fly, and five weeks of vocabulary, grammar, writing, and verbal communication delivered in the classroom. Outside the classroom, 100+ food packages reached families across the region. A small team, a long trip, and a deep dive into a country that would become a cornerstone of Blossom Together's work.
Impact:
Two volunteers, 40 days, 90+ students taught across multiple grade levels, and 100+ food packages distributed - all from a team of two who spent five weeks living and working inside the community they came to serve.
Highlights:
Village festivals, motorcycle rides, and 40 days lived as everyday Burkinabés. The kind of immersion that only comes from staying long enough to actually belong. Shout out to Sami Kandil and Samil Cil who made the journey!
